May 7th at LA's House of Blues.

Cervenka, and more...
Todd McCormick was sentenced to 5 years in federal prison.
He is trying to get out of jail on bond while his lawyers
appeal. He should know within 2 weeks. How can a California
resident be arrested by the federal government for growing
medicinal marijuana, when they have a legal prescription to
do so under California's Prop 215? Keep reading for more info,
and keep an eye out for the Todd McCormick Spitfire benefit
show in LA in early May! All details to be announced here
shortly...
It is with great sadness that we inform you that Todd is in
federal custody until at least February 28, 2000, and most
likely until his appeal, approximately one year after that.
If the appeal fails, the next possible release would be IF
the Supreme Court heard the case and reverses the Appeals
Court. That would be two years later, or longer. The next
date, providing he has been a model prisoner, is five years
from this past Monday. His attorney firmly advised Todd that
he should expect to be in custody for at least the next 15
months.
Please send letters of encouragement to him. He needs it now
more than ever.

In terms of raising money, you can also buy a copy of his
book "How to Grow Medical Marijuana". All the money from the
Amazon edition (except the cost of producing and printing
the book) will go directly to Todd & his defense. The book
can be ordered here.
Diagnosed with Histiocytosis X cancer at age two, Todd McCormick
currently faces a battle in federal court over his use of
medical marijuana. Todd was introduced to medical marijuana
as a young man while searching for relief from chemotherapy-induced
nausea. After the passage of California prop. 215 (now Ca.
law 11362.5), Todd set about researching and writing on the
uses of medical marijuana. In 1997 Todd was arrested and his
research destroyed by deputies of the Los Angeles Sheriffs
Narcotics Division and federal DEA, even though he was a well-documented
medical marijuana patient. The decision of 5.4 million California
voters to end the war on the sick and dying has not stopped
the federal government from prosecuting Todd and many others
in the state under federal law. Todd was initially released
on a $500,000 bond posted by his friend Woody Harrelson. Unfortunately,
due to a traffic violation, Todd is once again in Federal
prison, facing a 10 year mandatory minimum sentence if convicted
and a four million dollar fine.
