The
original embodiment of LA hip-hop. Grammy winning rapper/author/actor/speaker
Ice-T not only invented gangsta rap; he lived it. Through
his music, book (The Ice Opinion, St. Martin's Press), and
lecture tours of America's prisons, high schools, and universities,
he has become an influential spokesperson for America's youth
across all color lines. Orphaned at a young age, Ice-T spent
time in LA gangs before a four-year stint in the army. He
then went on to a long and successful career in acting, rapping,
and writing, engendering controversy every step of the way-his
hit Cop Killer from Body Count's 1991 album caused nationwide
debate over free speech and censorship. He continues to act,
write, and make rhyme pay.
